The Pulice /Granite JV (joint venture) was awarded an $88-million contract by ADOTto rehabilitate 10 miles of S.R. 202L in Maricopa County. The project included constructingHOV lanes in each direction, widening the southbound Price Road Bridgeand constructing two fly-over bridges at the I-10 and S.R. 101 interchanges. Work includeddrainage improvements, retaining walls, electrical, utility relocations and landscaping.
At the close of the project, Pulice/Granite JV had awarded over$5.5 million dollars in subcontracts to DBEs (over 5.38% DBEparicipation). This was done on a purely voluntary basis as therewas no DBE goal on the project. The Pulice / Granite JV is beingrecognized for partnering with ADOT and taking the initiativeto utilize DBEs on all federal-aid projects.
