ADOT Open House & SDBE Expo

Dec 06, 2011

DBE Supportive Services hosted the ADOT Open House & SDBE Expo at the Glendale Civic Center, on November 16, 2011.  Small and Disadvantaged Businesses Enterprises (SDBE)  from all over the state of Arizona showcased their companies to prime contractors and consultants.    This year’s Expo also provided an excellent opportunity for Small and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises to network and promote their businesses to key industry stakeholders including FHWA and ADOT executive leadership.

ADOT Director John S. Halikowski, Chief Operating Officer John Bogert, and State Engineer Jennifer Toth participated in a panel discussion and honored guest  Warren Whitlock, the newly appointed FHWA Headquarters Associate Administrator for Civil Rights, presented the challenges he plans to tackle in his new role.  Mr. Whitlock was truly impressed by the diverse audience and the high level of participation from SDBEs, prime contractors, consultants and the agency.   Mr. Whitlock was joined by his Special Assistant, Darren Brown, who expressed his approval  for ADOT DBE Program by stating that “the ADOT DBE Program has far exceeded (my) expectations”.

DBE Supportive Services recognizes that the success of the Arizona DBE Program depends on the efforts of DBEs, contractors, and consultants.  At the Open House SDBE Expo, ADOT recognized a DBE Trailblazer, a Construction Champion, and a Consultant Champion for their outstanding performance and partnering efforts that has contributed to the DBE Program.

DBE Supportive Services would like to take this opportunity to congratulate once again this quarter’s honorees:

Kuniklo Corporation, DBE Trailblazer

Arizona Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America
ADOT Construction Champion

Parsons Brinckerhoff Inc., ADOT Consultant Champion
